Bless the Lord, you His angels, who excel in strength, who do His word, heeding the voice of His word. Bless the Lord, all you His hosts, you ministers of His, who do His pleasure. Psalm 103:20-21 |

For Women
|
The women of our church have participated in the Christian Women's Fellowship (CWF) for many years. CWF is part of the womens ministry in the Disciples of Christ Church. There are CWF groups throughout all the Disciples of Christ Churches in the nation. CWF meetings offer opportunities for fellowship, worship, study, and stewardship. For the convenience of all women, we offer two CWF groups: The Wilma Tye Fellowship of CWF (which meets during the day) and The Mary Martha Guild of CWF (which meets at night). Both CWF groups join together quarterly for general meetings. Every CWF
meeting is opened and closed with prayer. We have educational programs
at most meetings on a wide variety of topics. We also designate part of
each meeting to discuss general business and plan projects. Our meetings
end with refreshments and fellowship. CWF meetings are a wonderful way
to meet other women, form friendships, and work together to serve the
Lord. |

For Men
|
The Christian Men's Fellowship (CMF) at First Christian Church is a relatively new group which evolved from our Men's Chorus. The main focus of CMF is to provide assistance to members of our church; the elderly, disabled and needy. CMF solicits project requests ranging from plumbing repairs to construction work - no project is too big or too small for these fine men. In 2005, the CMF group adoptedthe picnic shelter at our regional
Youth Camp in Craig Springs, Virginia. The members of CMF are responsible
for maintenance and improvements to their adoptedshelter.
In the future, CMF hopes to participate in other community outreach projects. |

For Youth
|
For the youth of our church and our community, First Christian Church (DOC) sponsors Chi-Rho, our youth program. What does Chi-Rho mean? It means God First, Others Second and Self Last. These are the values the youth in our church learn each Wednesday night during our youth program. Our children share a meal, provided by church members, learn Bible lessons
and practice singing and drama performances. The youth also participate
in fun activities including "lock-in" sleep-overs, dining out,
bowling adventures, baseball games, parties, picnics and more. All children
are welcome! The youth program meets Wednesdays from 6:00 p.m. to 7:30
p.m. in the months of September through December and March through May. |

Music |
The Adult Choir at First Christian Church is led by our director Ms. Phyllis Bishop. The choir is a lovely blend of soprano, alto, bass and tenor voices and performs weekly during the worship service. The Men's Chorus at First Christian Church (DOC) is a beautiful ensemble of rich, deep voices that present special performances in our church. Special community performances by these two choirs vary throughout the year. First Christian Church also boasts a unique, three-octave hand-bell choir.
These handbells were donated by former FCC interim minister, Rev. Clayton
Tinnell. Under the direction of Mr. John Murphy, the hand-bell choir performs
for special church events. |
